Albatrons ATOP (agp to pci-express)

I'm pretty sure this has been posted before, but I think another discussion about it would be good, especially for people who are reluctant to buy pci-express motherboards, since they don't want to lose the investment they put into there agp cards.

This source says that he following cards work, wether or not that means these are the only ones tested so far, im not sure.

- GeForce MX 4000
- GeForce FX 5200
- GeForce FX 5700/LE
- GeForce 6800
- GeForce 6200A

those don't fit due to height restraints says this source. This source quoted it from albatron, but I could not find a direct quote from albatron.

This source seems to imply that the adaptor only works for Nvidia agp cards. It also implies that it is not yet available (which seems to be the case as I research it more).


What I don't seem to understand is, how albatron can possibly know which AGP cards will fit with the ATOP (stands for Agp TO Pci-express) converter, since many cases have different widths, ranging from 7, to I think 10 inches (well thats what normal atx cases are).

I have a few questions about this, but discussion of the ATOP adaptor is not limited to this:

yah, im not sure if its going to be something big and be a huge hit, especially for people reluctant to go to pci-e, or be a big flop. that list of short gfx cards that work with it scares me. Although, i thnk those might just be the cards tested so far.

EDIT: Is there such thing as a mobo that supports AGP cards, and pci-e? Haven't been able to find anything about that. I did find a chipset that supports agp to pci-e, but I dont know if when they chipset if there reffering to a motherboard, or the main chips on the motherboard. So it leaves me a little confused simply because I don't understand the terminology
