a few hard-drive and mobo questions

my new mobo is the asus a8n sli premium. it has two controllers for sata - each supporting 4 drives. i will be getting 2 hitachi sata hdds and one wd raptor for my os.

my question is which controllers should i use? should i use one controller for the os hdd and one for ....
etc etc....you get the idea.

i think one controller is only for sata while the other supports sata2.

that is another q i have. can a sata plug fit into a sata2 soclet?

The hard drive specs should say what type of SATA it uses, whether it uses SATA 3GB/s (SATA II) or SATA150 (SATA I). By the way, very detailed explanation using graphics.

what i mean is would it be better/faster to have the raid hitachis on one controller and the raptor on another.

secondly, is this even possible as they are both sata, can sata fit in a sata2 socket.

I'd imagine it would be faster to keep both drives on the same controller, but in reality, it probably wouldn't make more than a couple milliseconds' difference.
