chipset info needed

when replacing a motherboard would I need to consider what type of chipset it uses? Because I have found one that matches my cpu and everything and just need this info to finalize the choice.

oh yeah and if the memory clock speed is 400mhz will it not take any lower???

The chipset can be whichever you'd like. Some chipsets are better than others, but there's no direct compatibility issues with different chipsets.

Also, slower memory will almost definitely be compatible. Pretty much every motherboard supports slower memory speeds than its maximum supported speed. Just double-check your motherboard specs.
