Yeah, you read it right... ati's done it! It's called crossfire and it combines two cards (huh... haven't we seen that before?) but does the combining a little differently... check it...

I can't wait to get my hands on that... lol. I wish... So what do you guys think? Will it pwn nvidia? or will it just sort of fade out like an extinguished fire? lol...

It'll pwn Nvidia :D
The fact you can have 2 different ATI cards is great, if you can't quite afford two top specs you could get an x850xt and then an x800pro until you could.
Pwnage!
I'm waiting until I can buy it from ebuyer to buy a new system.

Yeah, seriously, for nvidia you need two of the same card... now, for ati, you can have two different ones!

that all sounds chill and all, but i wanted to be able to use lower end cards from ati in sync. What i got from those articles is that say I already had an x800, or even an x850, I would have to buy a special version of those cards so use it. Is that right?

You have to have a special CrossFire Edition card and a normal card. So you have have a X850 XT PE CrossFire Edition and a ordinary X850 XT PE. YOU can even create combinations, like a X850 XT PE and a X800 XT PE. So it's more flexible and unlike SLI, doesn't require you to have the same exact cards to run.

2 X850 XT PE's in CrossFire are about 10 FPS slower in most games than 2 7800 GTX's in SLI. So, considering the price of a 7800 GTX, it's not actually worth it.
