Most likely SATA II will achieve maximum burst at 300MB/s. Also the RPM ratings of hard drive. Typcial speed are 7200RPMs with higher priced drives at 10,000 or even 15,000 RPMs. There are also SCSI drives that are the fastest, but less supported.
