Microphone QuestioN

sup guys, i'm planning on buying two pc microphones for two of my friends for their go-away-to-college present so we'll still be able to talk a lot through skype or something voice chat program.

i've been looking at two logitech microphone products:

1.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836111601

2.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836111602

after looking at the specifications from the logitech site http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/productlistns/US/EN,crid=101 , i can see no differences between the two products other than the first is usb connected and is "digital audio" while the second is 3.5 mm and isnt "digital audio." How would the "digital audio" afffect the sound quality? Does the usb connection allow for better sound quality than the normal audio-in jacks?

I was also looking at some headsets such as the logitech precision pc gaming headset
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826106935

but this headset has the extra headphones which isnt a primary concern for me, so would this make the microphone cheaper in quality since the headset is the same price as the second desktop microphone

so in summary, which of these three products should i choose for maximum audio-input microphone quality and why that one over the others? thanks
