so, am i right in thinking that i am only using my 8 hours when data/packets are being transferred?

edit: So know in my router config i found idle time minutes which is set at 5 so it goes off the internet when its been idle for five mins, it also has dial up demand which is ticked, so in the manual it says when someone opens a browser it wakes it to the web. So i have answered my problem i think that no, it doesnt use up my 8 hours without me being on the web..lol

my other problem, windows just connects through the router but on the wired connection i have no internet connection when it asks me to choose. Does anyone know how i can say what the connection is, because its high speed lan and stop it keep asking to connect to the speedtouch connection when my lan connection is on ready to provid internet but windows xp wont let it.

Delete the Speedtouch Connection and allow the LAN Connection to Run Free as the default connection.
