web page ranking

on google, my web page is only showing up half way down the first page. it is a club with a unique name, and therefore it would be great if it was the first result, but how do i get it there? I have followed lots of web sites telling me to use good key words, which i have done.

google takes into account many different things, including how long the domain has been registered, number of back links, link popularity, etc...
