Graphics Card

wow, theoretically it should be sbout $400, based on the UK price, but whatever, can I order it from a US site, in dollars and get it shipped over here, that'd save a lot of money, despite how much the shipping would cost

OK, sorry for the double post, but I dont want to start another thread, but should I go for 4 gigs of RAM or 8, because with 8, I may end up spending £1000 on RAM, which is too much for any sane person, what do you think. 8 gigs is probs too much, what are your thoughts??? Maybe I could have 6

4 gigs? 8 gigs? Techy my friend your budget lies in the wrong place! Right now you will not need over 2gb of RAM, if you must be a RAM eccentric then go for 4gb, and jeez, get a better graphics card if your willing to spend that much on RAM! I'm shocked, I really am.
2GB of fast RAM will cost you no more than lets say, £300. So scrap your £200 graphics budget and get a Geforce 7800GTX, the current fastest card on the market.
If you really must have OTT RAM then go for 4gb i suppose, but honestly buddy getting 8gb of RAM and a £200 graphics card does NOT add up right.

yeah, but I love RAM, my specialist subject and I want to make this computer last a loooong time, so I plan to go overboard on certain specifications. I do not game that often, so a good graphics card is not that high on the list, certainly under RAM, my system isnt gonna beat Darkblade if I get 2 gigs, I'm going for 4.
Anyay isnt the 7800GTX like £1,000. If so, I'm not spending that much on a graphics card, if I could have 8 gigs of RAM for the same price. 4 gigs is less than I have budgeted for (well, half) so I will have some spare money jingling in my pocket, how much is the 7800GTX anyway???

Also, DEAD IMPORTANT, can you reccomend any good sites for buying computer parts on the internet, except Newegg, that doesnt ship to the UK, thanks

No mate, the 7800GTX is just over £350 from www.ebuyer.com, and fine fine get 4gb then, not 8gb, that would be an absolute waste of money.
Also consider DarkBlade's RAM is OC'd, and is good quality stuff (I still don't quite see why your so intent to beat him) but oh well. You love RAM, fair enough but that kinda memory won't be needed for a while.
Anyway i've offered my advice, get 4gb and a half decent graphics card i suppose.
Remember 'More RAM' = 'More heat' so consider better cooling also, I know this is your 'specialist subject' so i'll leave ya to it.

lol, i like to think I know a lot about RAM, in reality, I probably don't
Criky, I thought the 7800GTX was £1000, I may get it if it's only £350 (I say only, its a lot really, but less than £1000)
OK, new plan then, dump, the 8 gigs and go for a 7800GTX
thanks SirVal

PS how do you OC RAM anyway

If you wish to overclock RAM, I believe its possible on some motherboards I may be wrong, Ask Darkblade i'm sure he'll explain.
I'd like to know what motherboard holds 8GB of RAM :/
Wise choice, get 4gb of DDR400 at least for your RAM, if you can afford it go for the higher numbers, after all it means higher performance. You won't regret getting the 7000GTX.
Anyway, glad I could help, whatever you do good luck.

Val

Edit: Did you know that all capitilization on a forum is considered shouting, and therefore ill mannered?
