What is the difference between Intel's Xeon and Pentium processors and why do some highend PC companys like Aleinware and Voodoo use or have used the Xeon processor?

Ok. But why was Alienware and Voodoo using them in their gaming machines for awhile?

Because they were enabled with SLi first and also they were able to dual Xeon processors. Now, with dual core, they don't need to. Xeons also use ECC RAM, which is crappy.

Thank you for your replies. I was off line for awhile (moving) so it took me awhile to view post.

(Error Correction Code) - A method of checking the integrity of data in DRAM. ECC provides more elaborate error detection than parity; ECC can detect multiple-bit errors and can locate and correct single-bit errors.

If I believe right ECC has a 9th chip instead of 8 to protect itself if one of the chips fail? Or is that parody?

Yeah, this thread is little old... haha... for a sec, I was like.... whoa, darkblade is back... but guess not. Yeah, ecc ram is $$$. ddr works just fine.
