First Build To Be

I'd consider the NEC dvd-rw instead of Pioneer. My experience is this: First one I got was because of lower price at the time. Opened the box and promptly dropped it on a tile floor. SONOFA@#%@!!! After swapping out my sh*tfilled undies for a clean pair, I put the drive in and HOLY SMOKES!! it still worked!! It has burned everything I've thrown at it without any coasters. Might not be the prettiest or the coolest name brand, but for a few dollars more, I'd go with a sturdy dvd-rw drive that NEC makes over any others.

sorry double post again: the cheapest intel retail box i found was 2.4 ghz and 533 mhz fsb, at 180 canadian. the cheapest amd retail i found was 1.8 ghz but (HOLY OMFG WHOA LOL) 1.6 ghz fsb at 166... what shud i get?

Stop saying sorry for double posting! Just don't do it! Theres an edit button you know! And its there for a reason....other than spammers.

lol ok :D

ok, so i got another slight problem: i am not sure if these are compatible.

this mobo: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1173382&Sku=M452-2502
or this mobo: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1487206&CatId=1178
with this processor: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1057001&CatId=259

AND

this mobo: javascript:eek:l('http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1043671&CatId=182');
with this processor: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1262574&CatId=262

if all of these are compatible, its only the job of choosing which ones best. these all are in my budget so which one do you think is bettter?

They are all compatible and I would recommend AMD! Although do not get socket 754, it is not good for upgrading. Get socket 939 they both are compatible with Athlon 64/ Athlon 64 FX.

o i wont b upgrading 2 fx anytime soon. i dont plan to spend 1000 bucks on a processor til i get a job.

edit: (lol happy now?) i'll post the (hopefully) final components of the computer today.

Not FX, Just socket 939 can transfer data alot faster and has more bandwidth. Considering 939 isn't out of your way from 754 I would get 939.

alrite i found a nice 939 mobo gigabit lan low price here are final (hopefully) components:

Well, your motherboard is socket 939 and your processor is socket 754....That won't work.

Everything looks good except I would get at least a 3000+ and not a 2800+.

Also 512MB RAM is probably fine for you but try and shoot for 1GB if you can.
