mobo fried? cpu fried? none of the aforementioned?

Thanks wozelbeak for the links.

Hey per,

I have CPU heatsinks, the stock one and a Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu. I've tried using both and nothing.

UPDATE:

I have taken out everything off of the mobo and turned it on. Still no POST beeps or anything.

sounds like a mobo problem to me.
you may have knocked something while removing the old heatsink.
they are a b!tch to unclip sometimes, and sometimes you can knock a part on the motherboard while removing.
have you got a old mobo to try the psu out with?

Well I brought my friends "dead" computer over to my place today and tried to power his computer with my working PSU. Nothing happened. So PSU is ruled out. It's only CPU and Mobo that are left. We've found a we know that has a Socket A mobo. Just what we need to solve this problem. I'll keep you posted on what happens. Finally this mystery will come to an end...hopefully. Thanks for your time and help.

I was considering static as a factor as well. I guess I'll never know if it was static that caused the trouble.
