I am building my first AMD system, need to lower the price if possible, but I am a heavy gamer and I want to overclock some, that is evident in the extras category.

Any help lowering the price, while keeping/improving performance would be appreciated. Note: still needs a MB

THANKS TO JBD FOR HELPING ME COME UP WITH THIS LIST!

he said he wanted to save money, an fx-55 instead of a 3200+ is not by any means of teh word saving money

sorry for the double post, i made a mistake, disreguard that 3200+ comment, but keep the whole thing about a fx-55 not saving money =), haha, my bad

lmao you obviously didn't understand my post, read it again, I said get a 3500 venice and OC to the numbers of a 3800 or maybe even fx-55 since most people can.

as above stated, excuse my ignorance, i misread, and i agree, i have overclocked my 3200+ venice, to 2.4Ghz, gret money saver and a great increase in performance.

or get the 3000+ and o/c that, its cheaper than the 3200+ and reviews and such have shown it to be a better o/c than the 3200+ and such. which may be true considering im at 2.4ghz too

i'm a noob at o/c and i'm wondering how all you guys o/c'd your cpus. what do you need to do to o/c it?

go to ur bios, turn the HTX to 4 and then the fsb to 265 if you get a AMD 64 3000+. but yea you jsut turn the HT to 4x and then turn up the fsb til u start having problems and tehn turn it down slightly so ur still good. or at least thats what i did. u might need to turn up some voltages though if u wanna go high
