I admit I was skeptical about getting an iPod, but now I am ecstatic that I got one. I love iTunes, podcasts, EVERYTHING!

Do you guys have any tips or tricks for my iPod, iTunes, or anything related. By the way, I have a Mini.

tips or tricks, cover the screen with tape like that clear duck tape stuff to keep it from scratching. thats what i did. then just download a bunch of music and play it

I would like iPods more if they weren't dependent on iTunes. I hate iTunes so much, it hurts. Not to mention that the music you buy from iTunes isn't really yours. (There are ways to convert those iTunes songs to plain mp3's, but the methods I've seen are pretty painstaking.)

I think the coolest mp3 player on the market is the Olympus m:robe.

The only problem is that they only make a 5GB player! The 20GB is a multimedia player and a bit of a waste of money if you only want to play mp3's.

Anyway, I'm not trying to hijack the thread. I just wanted to add my opinion. Congratulations on finding something you like. My tip is to find a good way to convert those iTunes songs to mp3's. Then you can burn and copy them as much as you want.

The only Podcasts I have are tWiT and Diggnation. I kind of like my iPod I wished I had a Creative Zen Micro. I have an iPod mini. I had to send it in for repairs because the battery lasted only 1 -1:30hrs.

You can convert songs in iTunes to mp3.....

Um, do you have an iPod photo? You can turn it into a media player you know??? :D Here, read this coolness and save yourself the MONEY!! :D :D :D

Also, Spank_Fusion, if you use Nero RECODE2, you can EASILY take the .m4p (Apples Lossless codec) and convert it to mp3 or AAC. :D

Twit and diggnation rule! I love all of the guys from the old tech tv. G4tv sucks balls. I hate it. I wish g4 would die. DOWN WITH G4!!!!...

Anyway... :)

Ok, correction, this works on ANY iPod. Are you ready? "Make the iPod a Media Player!!" :D

or this in Windows user case!

Do that first!

Ok, now once you are done there, do this!
You won't be able to install Linux on your iPod if your firmware is 1.5 or newer. Most iPods have this new firmware as a result of the new version of iTunes. If you can, downgrade your iPod with an older firmware (any iPod updater released on or before November 15, 2004).

Use Quicktime Pro to export / resize my original Xvid video to fit the iPod's screen size (160 by 128). Then use the Sorenson 3 codec and create a MOV file.

Then follow this instruction!
http://ipodlinux.org/Video_Player#Video_Conversion

You will need the codecs and binary strings here. Use these!

NOTE: This will not work on 4th Gen iPods unless you DL filmware 1.31 and use that ONLY. Try it if you are brave!!!

I'll throw in a vote for the creatives because of the sound quality. 98 db signal to noise ratio beats everything else on the market. I have a nomad zen xtra because I am cheap and it fits in my pockets just fine - I don't need anything smaller to loose. The interface takes a bit to get used to but I love it. For father's day I got my dad a nomad zen micro and he LOVES it. I helped him start copying his CDs on to it, got him an fm adapter for his car, and set him up with allofmp3.com and he thinks it fabulous. Tiny and they really fixed up the interface in the new zen touch and the zen micros compared to my zen xtra.
