Weird!

Stick the drive in another box (preferably something on your network) and copy the files to that boxes hard drive - or if you don't have another box by an external hard drive, they're pretty cheap if you know where to look and take the drive to a neighboors, pop it in and copy the files to an external. Then reformat by booting to the emachines restor disk, reinstall everything and copy your files back over. :)
