Question

or you can do price * 8.5= x then x/100= answer then you add the answer to the original price.. thats how i do it cuz u dont need a calc

Or take the price multiply by .085. That gives you your tax. Just add that on to the original price of the video card. It's the same as Monger's up there. I just converted the 8.5 to decimal percent already :p

Ex.

1) Price= $95.00 Tax= 8.5%

2) $95x.085= $8.075

3) $8.075+$95.00= $103.08 (rounded to the nearest hundreths)

Kinda out of topic but:
Mr. Monger, can u really count something like 57.95*8.5/100 without a calculator? (though the 0.05 doesn't really matter, but it takes time for me to even count 58*8.5)

Yes it is. I could be just really stupid in maths but I use a calculator for those kind of things. Takes so long for me to count that in my head.

Me too. You have to be really good in math to calulate that in your head. I had to figure that out with my calculator unless you want to round everything in your head. You'll come up with a similar solution but not as close or exact as a calculator would.

I could round the price to $58 or $60 to make it even easier. Than I would take the 6 from the $60 and mulitply in my head by 85. Then make sure you drop the zeros and put the decimal where appropriate.

Instead of having to find the tax then add it just add a one infront of the .085 (1.085) it saves time so you don't have to add it on.
