is there any way to update your computer without going to windows update or relying on automatic updates?

auto updates stop working after 23% downloaded, and IE just will not work... period... ive tried exiting and restarting IE, and that doesnt work, and ive tried it in firefox (wont let you download updates from firefox for some stupid reason...

any help is appreciated

This is the latest link for MS Update, give this one a try. You will have to use IE 6.0, for obvious reasons Microsoft will not let Firefox in the door.

I just listined to the Podcast tWiT. And they talked about an extension for Firefox that lets you update Windows using Firefox. I will look it up for you.

Sometimes the update is already installed and the web site just doesn't see that it is untill they havea closer look during the update process At that time the update will shut down so as not to install it twice. When this happens you should look to see what updates are being installed then go to add/remove programs and check the show update box and then compare to see if you actully have the update previously installed. More than likely you will find that you do.
