No Internet Detection

I recently reinstalled Windows XP on my Dimension Desktop 3000. It doesn't detect an internet Connection when I plug in the ethernet cable connected to my COX Modem. Any idea on how to fix this would be great.

Start-run-type CMD-enter.
type-ipconfig /release. enter
type-ipconfig /renew. enter

you could also try the repair feature.

right click the lan connection icon in the task tray and select repair

Did you happen to reinstall the drivers to your net work card. on the reformat the drivers would have to be reinstalled also.
