how do I use partitions that don't have an OS? I always thought that a partition without an OS was pretty much useless, but now I'm hearing things like people using partitions just for personal files and such with no OS. I've also heard about programs called Partition Magic that allow you to resize them stuff.

CAn anyone give me some more info on this?

yeah you can split your HDD into drives

C:
D:
E:

or any letter you wish then they showup as other drives on your computer Windows doesn't know whats going on lol

oh, so the other partitions will show up in Windows, like in "My Computer" as other drives?

Yes, they are shown as other local drives :)
As to programs that allow resizing them, personally I prefer Acronis Disc Director Suite.
But it's only my IMHO:)

The other partitions are just empty space to put whatever you want on. Windows is installed on C: to give you your primary boot drive. Think of the other spaces as empty hard drives. The other partitions will just be blank because you didn't install Windows on the other partitions, just the C: so you won't see "My Computer" in them.
