Try the volume options at the volum control in accessories > entertainment. The microphone should be called line in. Or try sound and audio in control panel, make sure that it is #0 line record for sound and vpice recording, in the audio and voice tabs because that configures your mcrophone to be able to record on the computer. When i first put in a microphone i had this problem and it worked for me after i did that.
