Speakers won't work

Well I got these new surround sound speakers a couple of days ago and when I plug them into the computer and listen to music or anything the top three speakers don't work. I've if they are connected properly, I've gone through to check if the balance is right and even checked different programs to run the music through. It still dosen't work so I was wondering if you guys could help me with it. Thanks in advance.

I would have no idea it's not my computer. It's a pretty new laptop and thats all about it I know.

Maybe headphones are pluged in? It can stop you from playing music sometimes

Have you tried them on a stereo or TV? Did they work?

make sure there not in the mike socket

you gotta have a 5.1 card or whatever there called, something that supports 5 speakers, assuming theres 5

Yes, and check the driver. Sometimes you might have to roll back the driver. Check this under the Hardware Device Manager in Windows.
