I did notice a big difference between 512MB and 1GB... games were actually choppy under 512MB, and I had enough of it. I thought my motherboard was bad or something.. I just put more ram and those problems completely disappear. Everything runs super smooth now. 2GB isn't really necessary and I don't see that'll be needed for the average gamer anytime in the near future.
