Yeah, I didn't know that some things survived though, but it must matter on the range like you say.

You know with cars? are there any computer chips that run them that control more than you think and so if something happened like that, many cars would have no control and crash? and when I say many, i mean hundreds where the EMP was set off?

I believe the only shield may be a lead enclosure or a copper screened grounded room such as the ones used to calibrate and test very sophiticated electrical devices.
