id like to upgrade my cpu to the new AMD 64 if pos becouse ive heard there great!
my motherboard is - ASUS a7v8x-la
ive currently got AMD Sempron 2800+ at 2.0ghz
but my freinds say that the Semp 2800+ is out of date and i should upgrade.

No jim you will have to get a new board too.
the a7v8x-la is a Socket A (Socket 462) board
The amd64 uses the 939 socket.

Jim:
This motherboard is indeed a socket A OEM for Compaqs, and the best processor you can have is an Athlon XP 3200+ socket A.

What's your budget? And what do you do or what will you be doing? Do you mulititask a lot? etc...

Mainly gaming but i also use the internet alot
Realy all i want to upgrade is my cpu but the AMD 64 wont work on my mobo so i dont now what to get.

You don't see the solution, but if you aren't going to get the Xp processor socket A, it is to buy an Athlon 64 and a new motherboard.
