will xp boot?

I currently have a dell comp and im movin that hdd to a custom comp with an abit mobo and different type of ram. It has the vid card driver on it already but thats about it. Will xp boot or will I have to reformat and reinstall everything?

XP probably won't boot I'm afraid, no, since XP has a protection feature built in to stop people taking hard drives from people and plugging them up to there own, or if a setups been left on one.

What this will do is just stop windows from recognising it, and you will need to do a full re-install yeah

You could give it a go, but its doubtful I'm afraid since its a completly different system...

i'm going to have to go with kage you have one key element but you're short a couple and the motherboard is what the whole deal runs on.
