What happens if you insert the windows xp home disc..does it load..?

Yeah, what I want to help with though is the repair function to get SP1 back. Is it possible by just doing a re-install without deleting all the rest of the data, if its not doing it that way?

I re-instaled windows and still had all my documents on the hard disk cus all it over writed was the windows folder so i was ok but office that was still there didnt work.

Yeah, but all youtr documents were there which is good, so all your files intact.

I thoguht installing windows normally formatted the drive, but I haven't done it in a long time, and there might be a re-install option

In this case, you'd be fine.

when windows is setting up you can choose if you want the drive re-formated.
