Here is my rig:
DFI LanParty 875P-T
Intel Pentium 4 570J
Thermalright XP120 (applied with artic silver 5)
with 90+CFM fan on the processor
RAID 0 on 2 74GB raptors
9800XT
4x 512MB DDR400

Case temp: 77F/25C
Processor temp: 120F Idle/ ~180 at over heat under light load.

What on earth is wrong with my rig?
Does anyone know why it's so hot?
Anyone have some suggestions?

do you have the heatsink sitting on the processor the right way?...and are those temps in the bios or in xp?

hot boxing. hehehe.

i totally thought of something else right there.

back on track.

Have you applied the right amount of thermal paste?

Have you tried putting on different heatsinks to see the difference in temps?? Perhaps faulty heatsink?

If you don't see any change in temp after changing heatsink or thermal paste, I think u have a faulty processor. Perhaps one of the pipes are leaking. Leaking pipes result in heat release.

How is the air flow in your case...

Do you have fresh air intake with or without fan...

Do you have hot air out with fan other than psu's...

you should have at least one exhaust fan other than the one on the psu depending on what fits in your case. if it has a spot for a 120mm fan in the back then you should put that in there, same for the front. front fans sucking air in, and rear fans exhausting air.
