I want to alter the level of blocking, what do you recommend please?, a full list of levels will be appreciated, also, can you remind me where to go, to do that, probably control panel etc?

Oh, you want to do that. Here are the steps to do that.

Control panel -> Network and internet options -> security. Change the settings to whatever you want. I have mine all on medium except for non trusted site.

Also to block cookies/virus/adware.

Control panel-> Network and interenet options -> Privacy -> then set the bar to block cookies.

There ya go,

E.G.

Most common words in subjects of spam (that I've found) are as follow:

Winner
youraccountname@youraccount.com
Free
Herbal
Natural
Weight

So for my settings, I've set up filters, such that when an e-mail with one of those words in the subject is sent to me, it will be placed in the trash can. I also have several e-mail addresses that are exempt from my filter, which lessens the chance that a non-spam e-mail will be put in the trash can.

Aol Aol Aol...

I rest my case as to why I use AOL. The control you have over your e-mail is excellent. Spam blocking is very good. Popup blocking is ok but the little bubble popping sound, well they could have done better. But for what features it has and grief it saves me, it's worth the couple of extra bucks.
EDIT: Did that sound like a plug or what?
Anyway all the e-mail controls, the spam blockers and the popup blockers are all built in. You don't have to go all over the internet looking for something to add to your system to do the job. And you get McAfee for free with free updates.
Now THAT was a shameless plug...

In any mail client.

you can set up filters.
Such as. "If subject contains _____" move to trash or reject..

same with the from email.

That would be the best way.. There are some spam filter programs you buy bt I have never been a fan of those.

I found AOL spam blocking to be rubbish, I set it up and it did little or nothing. I find the most common word to be viagra and ipod. I dont get any spam anymore because I dont use AOL anymore, I use my msn addy
