dvd/cdrw drive problem

you can reformat using six floppys, for windows xp.
does your floppy work?

No offense, but from your apparent level of computer knowledge I suggest you take it to a shop before you do something irreversible.

woz - my floppy does work

bahawolf - thanks for ur advice but when i enter my computer the cdrom drive option isn't even available as the computer simply isn't reading the drive at all

if you can get your hands on the flopys you can do your re-format from there. simply insert no1 floppy before boot up and follow the prompts

i'll give it a try, but just so that i know - if i carry out this re-format will i lose everything on my hard drive?

if your hard drive has a partition (recomended) you can sore what you would like to save on the one side of the partition, then format the side with your o/s on it.
if you don't got a partition you stuffed!
although you can download a programme called partitiuon magic. with this you can make a partition on your existing hard drive. then place keepers on one side and re format other.
