Alright. Another build challenge for everyone. I've been researching for awhile now on my next computer build and figuring out everything I want; however, I want to see what I get from you guys.

I already have the case (ATX), and don't worry about a monitor, mouse, keyboard or speakers. The case did come with a PSU, but if you think it's necessary, include a better one in the setup.

Budget: $600 - $800

Uses: I don't play games too much, but I still want something that will be able to play Half-Life 2 decently if and when I decide to get it. Other than that, it's mostly just for internet and applications use.

Requirements: Multi-threading is a must. I also would prefer AMD over Intel. 80GB minimum for the hard drive (preferably Western Digital). I also need a motherboard with connections for front USB ports and headphone and microphone ports. PCIe and SATA are optional. nVidia chipset preferred, but not required. A firewire port would be nice, but also optional. I plan on getting an LCD monitor, so choose the graphics card appropriately. Integrated audio is fine.

Sorry for the all the limitations, but there you go.

how many watts did the psu come with? And you probably dont need a new psu. Take that extra 100 dollars and put it into a 6600GT. And you have the wrong RAM there buddy. That is ECC Registered RAM used mainly for servers. It is also PC 2100 which will not let the processor run at its potential.
Here is a better set of RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145440

Even though its value RAM...you will have money left over and you might be able to get a bigger hdd if you need it. If you dont, just save the extra 50 bucks.

Looks like a decent setup there. I forgot to mention it I guess, but the PSU that came with it is 450W. Plenty for what I need, but I'm still worried about it crapping out just because it came with the case (heard a lot of bad things about them).

did you change the stuff i told you to? If you did, post the new specs please
