upgrading video card

I just bought a 6600 gt video card, and I uninstalled the old driver and reinstalled the new one that came on the cd. Then when I went to play doom, when I used the mouse it was still glitchy. So I'm wondering if I need to do something else with my video card to get doom running good?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I think it's 6.1.7.6 of 7/12/04

I was wondering if there is video card drivers that I need to install for my mother board

Or if I only need the drivers that came on the cd

does your mouse require any drivers?

yea, my mouse is wireless but I did install the drivers when I first got it

It was working fine with Splinter Cell the first one, but then when I try to play doom it gets all glitchy only when I'm moving and using the mouse at the same time.

I don't know my other card was a a chaintech 5700 or something like that and it only cost like 80 bucks, so I was expecting my 6600 gt to be awesome, but I don't notice that big of a difference. So I'm thinking I don't have something set up right.
