120gb hard drive
DVD Drive
DVD writer
64mb via unichrome graphics on board.
please help me!!!
thanks

Hmm... 256mb of DDR ram is actually quite good for a system

Do you want to go to 512mb by inserting another 256mb RAM stick?

When you say its slow, what you mean?

We'll need the motherboard name to check this. Anyway you can find this out?

i mean its slow when i log on and can usaly slow right down and become non responsive i had windows xp clean re-installed but it didnt solve the problem.

Hmm... yeah, it seems it could be RAM in that case. bit weird though, 256mb is quite alot.

What make of AsusTec board is it though? The model? It should be printed on the board itself as well as the make.

After I get that, I can specify a type of RAM.

Alright this is what it told me.
Hope this helps!

Yep, this is it

Asus A7V8X-LA

This is about it:

http://www.e4allinc.info/dir1/motherboards/socketa/a7v8x_la.htm

This is the type of memory:

256/2700 MB 333DDR SDRAM
Maximum: 2 GB (2x1024MB DDR SDRAM)

Now it can support a maxium of 2gb, and you have 256Mb at the moment.

If you update to 512mb, this should run better, and it has two dimms to update with, so one spare

You'll need to ask for 256mb of PC 2700 Ram, or DDR333 is another way of naming the same thing.

If you wanted a gig of RAM, you'd need to throw away your old 256mb one and get 2x 512mb chips at that rating, though I wouldn't as you might gain a boost from an extra 256mb anyway

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for all your help mate.
though do you have any ideas of prices for the memory?
ive only got £60 to spend on it is this enough?
