harddrive question

Ok...

if you put the 300gigger as the master you will have to format it. Then install windows from the begining. You just can't take the c: drive which is now the master and has all your programs on it and just make it a slave and exspect xp to work. Why not just make the 300gigger the master on the second IDE channel? Also you have to make sure you computer's bios will support a drive that big.

My advice is to take it to a shop and let them do the work.

lol.... i agree. but its $$$ so u gotta consider what to do. like freakin geek squad charges freakin $50 to install mcafee! i was like holy crap! and u have to buy it too! so its like $70! *sigh* lol.

If the 300 Gigas hard drive is faster than the 40...

then it will be worth the trouble formatting it and

installing windows to set it as the Master drive...

I don't have a windows disk, unless someone wants to said me an iso, but I think that's illegal Lol, unless its a backup or something, I really don't nkow the rules.

Oh and one other thing, if I made the 40 gig my slave drive, will I have to format that and get rid of everything on it ? thanks alot.

The utillity that i mentioned earlier will transfer everything from the old drive to the new drive.
Just follow the instructions at the website for its use.
