DVD Burning

I have a DVD, well actually a few of them. I'm going on a trip over seas, and I want to make backup copies of them in case they get scratched. Now I tried simply copying and pasting all the files from the dvd onto my hd and then I was going to compress all that, and put it onto a cd, so I can watch it on my uncles PC in England. But when ever I try to copy the files to my HD i get an error. Anyway to do this?

try http://www.dvdshrink.org/ it does everything by itself with a few clicks of OK. I use it all the time to burn rentals.

kinda illegal but whatever... just dont sell em and stuff... but yeah. i have dvd shrink and i back up all my school vid's for projects and stuff. works like a dream.
