Ok my orginal buypackage for my upgrades for my computer were going cost 595.55. Now I looked up my motherboard and found that it supports 5.1 surround sound. And all which is what I want. However its Socket A. Now the best processor that I can get for this is a AMD 3000 2.1 GHz. Now I was intending on buying a AMD 3500 which runs at 2.4 GHz. I can still get the same video card and all. And I'll save 195.00 from saving money on the mobo that I was going buy and the processor which I can no longer get cause of the socket. But also Socket A is some what limited to what I can upgraded. What would you do in my postion? However I don't trust my current APG slot in my current Mobo.

Does the new board also support 5.1?
Then it would depend on how old was your system now? And why the upgrade?
I think that if it was my decision then I would go ahead with what I was planning to do but alter it enough to start planning for the sound upgrade also.
I say this because I hate to think back on what could have been.

I honsetly think this will be one of the few times I'll be able to afford such a upgrade. And my current mobo is falling spart. The mics no longer work and sound quality is shit. Now sure I could buy a cheap sound card for a temp fix. But then again I don't trust my APG slot on my current mobo (Last time I tested it the test said it wasfailing) And the reason for the upgrade was I want more power. The newboard supports 7.1 SO THATS ALSO A BIG PLUS. When I get the money and want to go to 7.1 surrond sound I can do it. And not spend any extra cash. Also what about this thing where it says the mobo has socket 754, and 939?

I was looking at the following baords

Any suggestions?

As well for CPUs i was looking at
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103502
Next highest GHz is 67.00 more its only .2 higher.

I like the chaintech board but either one will do.
The cpu is fine but for the few extra dollars look to the venice core. The wenchester just doesn't reallcut it that much.

Hrm Its also cheaper. And I'm sure if I overclock it 20% and get it up to 2.0 GHz. Which is what I like. My current CPU socket on avg is temp is 45C and CPU diode is 34 C. If I were to add a extra 2 or 3 fans I'm sure I could do it safely at 20%. How would I install those fans?

Well I have a previous CPU.. AMD 64 3000 (socket 754) and I got overclocked by 20%. I'm using the standard fan that was provided and the temperature is about 36C.

What you can do is add extra fans to the case... make sure you have some that are set as exhaust fans to take out hot air. That'll decrease the overall temperature.. and help out the CPU some.

Alrighty well here is my buy package.

Also a question about the video card.
Would you think 128 MB would be enough? I mean I'm getting a 256 MB card but could I go a bit cheaper and get a 128 MB and have a geforce 6600 or somthing?
