What is the major difference between a 3500 and a 3000?
Will I notice a large difference in performance, worth the price?

I'll be doing gaming and multitasking.. with XP Proffessional.
Whether I go with the 3500, 3200, or 3000 I'll be aiming for a Venice core.

What would you reccomend..?

I could afford either one, it'll just take longer to save..
But in reality, is it worth the extra money?

The 3500 is obvisouly more expensive because it has higher clock rate capability than the others. THey all use the same size cache and process because of the same core design. You can OC the 3500 higher without compromising too much stability compared to the lower processors. THat's about it I think. I think it's like close to $100 more from a 3200 to a 3500 and all you gain is 200MHz more. BUt again, if you like the OC potential, a 3500 would be better.

I would still get the 3500+ if you can afford it. Some people have a tighter budget so they get a 3000+ or 3200+. I generally don't like to spend any more than $300 on a CPU for what I do.

Or you can get the 3200+ and OC it to 3500+ speeds as some people here are doing. Then again, 3000+ CPUs and higher are adequate for most applications.

Do you think I'd notice that much performance difference between the 3200 and 3500? If so, I'll purchase the 3500 but if its really not noticable, I'll stick with the 3200.

THere's a small difference between the two speedwise. In your case, you're probably better of getting the 3200+. The main thing to keep in mind is to have sufficient amount of RAM (1GB) and a good video card. The 3200+ are great overclockers too so if you do feel the need for speed, bump that up and you'll be going 3500+ and higher. Make sure you're getting it for the Socket 939 though. Faster FSB or for AMD nut, HTT than Socket 754.

wow... theres some massive multiasking.... 2 g's man! but yeah, im getting the 3800+ and let me tell you, my friend had a 3400+ and i had a 2800+ and the difference wasnt too bad, as in, he had some faster processes than me. and my 3400+ on me labtop goes faster than my old 2800+ so yeah. get the 3500+.
