How far away does the subwoofer need to be from the computer?

To tell the truth, it doesn't really matter.

The fact with a sub is with low tones, the ear doesn't notice where its coming from like it does with high tones.

Wherever you put it, the sound will seem like its coming from the speakers themselves.

Though I'd put it on the same side of the room as the speakers, though can be on the floor or on a desk somewhere in the room. If its a surround setup like it is, the best place would be the middle of the floor, though this isn't advisable

I ment so it doesn't fry my computer because of the magnets.


<edit>also what about the little speakers, is it alright if i put them on top my computer?

The magnets shouldn't do anything on the normal speakers, though I wouldn't put the sub on top of the computer. I do have my sub close though...

I'd try and put them so it is a proper left and right polority to you.

For instance, my speakers are fine ontop of the montiors. They both seem to be shielded, so as long as the speakers are shielided from magnetism, it should be fine anywhere
