If 3 words is a byte.

there are two words in a byte...

a word is four bits (hex 0 - f) a byte os two words, or 8 bits (hex 00 - ff)

bit (1 bit)
nibble (2 bits)
word (4 bits)
Byte (8 bits)
kilo Byte (1024 bytes / 8192 bits)
MegaByte (1048576 bytes / 8388608 bits)
Giga Byte (1073741824 bytes / 8589934592 bits)
TerraByte (1099511627776 bytes / 8796093022208 bits)

Hmmm...

Interesting thread. I killed the other one.

I would like to think that how far any part of computer technology will only be limited by imagenation. It's going to take time to develope memory and cpu chips that go faster and do more. The young people of this forum have a front row seat to what's going to unfold in the near future...

Well i can't wait til the double layer CPU's come out to play, and the 1 to 3 gig. memory sticks, There is almost no limit on how fast a copmputer can get.

A googleplex of memory... lol. 10^10^10^100 is a lot. more than the amount of atoms in the universe I think...

That couldnt be possible there is like 10000000000000000000000000000X127816273676586518265365187265365178256351865268538765126853685126358751286357612583561526351786253587612536561257635176356152638516356712535126355126357612535162376513825671526517632576 atoms just on the moon

Yes there is almost no limit to how fast they can get. But there is a point where we don't need faster ones.
