I HAVE AN HP COMPUTER THAT HAS 40 Gb, 128 Mb, sdr ram, and is running on windows xp.

currently it is not very fast, in fact it is very slow in loading and going beteen programms.

i have tried unclicking all the ticked boxes under msconfig-startup option but that doesnt seem to do anything.

is there anything i could do to configure or add to the computer that could make it faster. it is such a pain

thanks

memory...you most deffinately need more ram. with older pc's though you need to go to the manufacturer's website and look up the specs for your mobo to see exactly how much ram it can handle. So don't just go out and buy it till you look it up or you might be wasting your $$$$.
here are some free/safe utillities that you can use to clean and speed up what you have right now.

Did you try a good spyware scam(full system) and virus scan....that could be a prob and xp run fine on 128 mb for a internet browser and very mild games the min requires 64 mb

MEMORY NUREDIN, MEMORY...

Xp begins to work at 256...
I like the way you put things.

But seriously xp may say it runs on 64 and 128 but in the real world it don't. The os will but when you add other programs and games it doesn't work. But before you go and plunk out good money try the other suggestion the guys told you about. Adding sdram memory costs more than ddr ram nowadays.
