Portable CD Rom Software/Driver

I have been using a Toshiba Satellite 110CT laptop for a number of years with a portable cd rom. I have formatted because of lack of disk space and now discovered I do not have the software to run cd on start up. The portable cd rom drive is connected into the printer parallel port.Inside the cd rom case is a Hitachi CDR 7930 also Compaq sticker with the number 9602. If I connect the portable cd rom to computer with XP it names it "Shuttle IH@@I" but cannot locate driver on internet. Can any help be given.

Does it say IO mega on the drive case?
Sure sounds like something they built.

I think you are correct in saying it is something they built. I can not see 10 Meg written on the case. Inside on the cd rom are two a bar code stickers (i) Compaq 96092 (ii) CT:70509044UDUC1U
