Installing Windows 98

my computer says i need to reinstall windows .
its windows 98
so do i have to format teh drive and then install windows?
or is there i way i can just reinstall the corupted files through the comand promp?

I don't know whether or not Windows 98 has this feature, but in XP you can do "sfc /scannow" to check the system files. Have your Windows 98 disc ready if Windows has this program.

no it doesnt have this....... i tried booting off the disk before the hard drive and runing set up, it didnt work
my only concern is if i format the hard drive do i loose all the drivers for the computer?
that could be bad

Yes, dredz172, you will loose everything on the partition you will format. There will be no way to recover anything unless you call for an advanced hard drive recovery specialist. If you boot off of the CD, however, there might be something about Recovery or Repair.
