password bypassing

Sorry I jumped to the gun then.
Either way, I still do not know what exactly you need. Do you need a way to reset your administrator password or are you trying to get into network configurations without logging in as administrator?

Can you access a limited account? If you can, try to use cmd and type this: NET USER username newpassword

Correct me if i'm wrong, but, I don't think the version matters.. Do you have ANY other accounts? You could try to get on the computer with the "Administrator" account. This comes with no password by default. Then you could go to Start -> Run -> cmd, then type in "NET USER username newpassword" (no quotes).

I ask for the version because if you have XP Home, you can boot into safe mode, log on as administrator (the password will most likely be blank), and reset passwords from there. With XP Pro, the password is asked upon installation, and in this case they apparently don't remember it.
