Hey guys I talked to my dad about a new pci-e mobo. Is there ant possible way that I will not have to buy a new cput if I get a pci-e mobo so I can keep my 3.2gig ht 748 socket but get the sweetness of PCI-E?

Well, you could possibly do it but you'd need to make sure the following are compatible with the motherboard:

Socket 748 on everything, including motherboard
Video card must be compatible
Case must be compatible (Common is ATX)
RAM must be compatible (Ex: PC 3200)
Your motherboard must support the processor

Plus, make sure your power supply is strong enough to handle everything, as well as the new motherboard, and I'm sure there are some other things I missed that you'll need to check are compatible.

So what your saying is I can keep my cpu and ram and everyting but get a pci-e mobo that supports socket 748?

i dont think they make pci-e for socket 748. Only for LGA775. pci-e you need 9xx chipset.

Ahhh o well. you guys think the x850xype will be good for a while? like 2 years? on high settings? thats when i'll prolby build my next comp and go all out.........i'll even chrome my parts

Stupid new technolgy........ and all the crap that I think I "NEED" to get
