what are some good alternitives to HTML other than WYSIWYG programs?

WYSIWIG-what you see is what you get (front page, macromedia, stuff like that.

My friend suggested XWT.

True but ASP.NET has alot of cool features built into HTML. Whats wrong with HTML by the way? And whats wrong with Dreanweaver and Frontpage?

XML is converted by a stylesheet to XHTML which is a stricter version of HTML, so it isn't exactly an alternative.

I hate to state the painfully obvious... but... when creating pages that use the Hyper-text transfer protocol, there is no getting away from the Hyper-text markup language.

even when using dynamic languages such as PHP you stll have to write HTML.

XHTML and DHTML are simply extensions and refinements to the language.

Lol, even the extensions in ASP.NET that don't seem like HTML are HTML; they're just created by the Gods at Microsoft and Compiled to pump out.

Web Parts haven't even been matched by Yahoo or Google, although they have obviously tried with their 'Customisable' Sites. With ASP.NET - you can get it with a few lines of Code!

If you want to use something other than HTML - make your own IIS or Appache - make your own Browser - and write your own Handlers, then everybody with that Browser will be able to view your site :p Haha, but its probably not worth the bother. HTML is the most ingenious language available, so powerful yet so simple.
