need help, overheating

well, i'm just gonna have to get some thermal paste, all the computer stores were closed today at like 5 or 6, so i'll get it tomorrow

well, i g2g, and im just saying this from what i remember.....i hope i get it right, cause im not re-readin it, but maby ur fan just isnt fast enough, bacuse ur overclocking your processer.......ya never know, but i gotta go, and ill search up this thread later, and see what you have said......ok later

i'm not overclockin it.
and my fan is running at 3900 RPM
and my processor idles at 46 celcius
it's a pentium 4, 2.4 ghz- not overclocked

*bump* sry for doing this but i'm worried

The processor gets up to 86C during games, i'm wondering will thermal grease bring down the temperature by a lot? or should i get a new heatsink or fan while i'm at the shop

how many fans do you have?
what size are the fan(s)?
does the newly added hdd clog some of the air flow holes?
or, deos the new sound card block some air holes?
is the area that the computer in too small?

i just got some thermal paste, Evercool, it was the only one they had at the closest computer shop to my house.
Now the cpu runs at about 37 C and when playing games at about 69, 70, 71 C

I have 2 fans, one on the cpu and another on the side panel

No clue wat sizes they are, i'll post pictures a little later.
