please tell me the difference of ddr ram, sd ram, and "ram"

You forgot DDR2. SD ram is pretty much outdated. DDr is more eficient and faster(with a bigger price tag of coarse). DDr2- Well that's self explanitory.

The older systems tend to have the sd ram memory mods in and the later machines of today have the ddr ram inside.you would have to look at the memory to identify it they generally tell you what sort it is on them.some do anyway not all.

know what company's to get ram from? if not, the best out right now are corsair, kingston, geil, ocz, crucial being ok, and rose will being ok too. dual channel is a good choice too. but make sure your comp can support it...
