Rate my custom computer

Note: This is my first time building a custom computer.

I need feedbacks and opinion on the system. I've already bought all the items listed below. Some general feedback I need is listed in the questions. Others are welcomed too. Overall I just need help making the system run smoothly without troubles. Also, I don't plan on overclocking the system.

Are all the parts compatible to build a system? (just double checking)

Is the motherboard good?

Is the cooling sufficient? Do I need more or just an upgrade?

What about the video card? Will it suit my needs for moderate gaming (I'm only playing aliens vs predator 2 as of now)? What about other gaming (unreal tournament 4, farcry etc.)? How long will it might be before needing an upgrade?

Do I need a higher power supply?

Any items that aren't as reputable (products that are prone to failing)?

Any suggestions on adding to the computer?

I still haven't bought the dvd-rom and dvd burner yet. I need a burner that can support + and - formats. Suggestions for a brand and where to buy at retail would be great.

wow you could have saved a bunch of money if you hadnt bought from new egg you know. Well overall it looks like a good mid high end system. Except I have never trusted Maxtor.

I just new egg to find good products and then go to pricewatch to find the item for cheaper. But New Egg is nice.

And holy shizzle 7.1 creative speakers. I am stuck with my logitech 5.1's.

Yeah I would've used pricewatch if I didn't have to buy a bunch of parts. Most of the time the cheapest prices on pricewatch are on sites with low customer satisfaction. I just didn't want to deal with problems and having orders come in various boxes at different times.

choke....processer........you need an amd 64 fx 4000+ for gaming, but thats is a pricy one

intel mobo's are crap, I used to have one, I'm willing to bet you your mainboard and cpu temps are around 100 degrees, that's what mine were, when I got the asus board my cpu temp went down to around 54 and my mainbord stayed between 70-80 you should go asus, with NOS overclocking and stack cooling, not too expensive either, got mine for 100 bucks. That 7.1 surround must be nice though :)

i would pay the extra money just for their nice website and fast service, and wide variety of payment options you know?

I would go AMD since it's a gaming comp, but then again you said you weren't doing heavy gaming so I guess it won't really matter, frames should be fine either way.

Who bumped up this old topic? LOL

Everything is running smoothly for me. The only problem I've had was with the mobo and replaced it once (looked like a dead mobo). The temperature is running at a low 30 degrees and 40 degrees under heavy use, which is pretty darn good.

The only thing I'm looking forwards to now is with a upgrade of the video card. The problem I see with this is that I might need to upgrade the PSU.

Yes, the 7.1 sounds nice but their isn't enough power in enough. Great buy though.

380 watts...hmm, yea you could probably up this to about 450 to 500watts to be safe when you get a new video card.
What are you thinking of getting in the video card department?

As for the soundcard, thats def not the problem i wouldn't think. It'll be your speakers. What type are you using? The more speakers you have you see, the more wattage you'll need on each satalight speaker to get a good performance, and some surround systems just can't cut it
