Website Directories

Hey everyone,
Not sure if this in the right section. My question, is there a way to find directories that are not linked to on the website? Like if I knew of my friend's website and he has a directories in the same folder but no links to them.. is there a way to list them? Just wondering.

If he doesn't have an index.html page, and you just type in the URL, the folders will come up. Or if you know the directory names, just type http://friendssite.com/foldernamehere. Hope this helps.

note:

http://site.com/foldername/

he forgot the last /. if you don't have it it'll time out. also, the folder might be in another folder so you have to know previous folders

example:

http://site.com/path/to/folder/
