making a gaming pc

UT2K is not the only game ill be playing on it, its just thats the most advanced game i have right now and i can only play that every other week at my dads. Once i get a new comptuer at my moms which i can use everyday ill probly get like alot of high end games from today and in years to come so i want to make sure i don't end up with a computer that will be outdated in like a year plus having SLI now will let me upgrade the graphics alot easyer and effectivly in like 3 years from now because instead of buying a new card and throwing the old 1 out i can put them together..........i think? lol

Ya you are long overdo a overhaul (glances at your computer specifications.. I remember using a K6 like in 1997-1998 lol).

Graphics card: Nvidia 6800 ultra 512mb with 500mw PSU ||900.00$||
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...details.asp?EdpNo=1359512&Sku=B52-1018 FREE X
This 512mb card is actually cheaper then buying 2 256mb 6800 ultras and this comes with a free PSU which i can sell to get some money back if i get a better power supply. The only thing is because its only 1 card SLI would have no effect until i bought a second card later which i probly will. Would this card be just as good as 2 256mb cards on SLI tho?

Memory: Corsair 1x1024mb PC3200 400MHz DDR ||120.00$||
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1170139

PSU: i think i might need a better PSU then 500mw for the stuff im putting in here but i have no idea. All 2 cases come with a PSU i think but u guys said case PSU combos are garbage so i might end up selling both of the bonus PSUs and buying 1 seperate i need some adive there.

If you live in canada, why are you looking at tigerdirect.com instead of tigerdirect.ca?

<edit>Since your on an amarican site all your prices are going to go up when you change it into canadian, plus i don't think tigerdirect.com ships to canada.

'could some1 fill me in about what a winchester processer is and whats the difference from a normal one?'

A Winchester processor simply uses a 90nm making process instead of the standard 110nm i think it is. It means less cooling is required and brings to a more quiet pc. They are also more efficent.
I personally wouldn't aim for a 4000+ though, as this seems rather a high price for such a small gain over one like the 3500+ and wouldn't affect games all that much.

'Would this card be just as good as 2 256mb cards on SLI tho?'

No since you wouldnt have two cores. A 512mb card will be good for storing more textures and might give you a small increase in loading, though its not as good as having 2x those cards with 256mb of memory each.

Hope this helps

but that 512mb will be btter in the long run when you buy another one of them the 2x256mb's wont even compare

It all comes down to... do you have the cash? If you do then go with the 512 and if you don't wanna(or can't) spend that much then go with the 256
