Im a new user and i have a question
1. do u have to create a partion on a HD to use it and why or
can u install any OS without a partion (otherwise if an os did not provide a autopartion could u still install it)
Please be as technical as possible i thnk u have to have a partiotion...

You can't install windows 98 or 98SE on multiple partitions. Software just won't support it.

XP Pro will work on multiple partitions---I think.......

Yeah, it will. To partition nicely, I recommend you format the drive then use the Linux (Mandrake Distro) disk 1 which includes a great partitioning software for FREE. :D

Technically, you don't have to create a partition on the hard drive to use it, Windows will create the partition for you during the installation process.
